Maintenance

This section contains detailed procedures for routine inspection, periodic maintenance,
corrections, and minor repair with recommended spare parts. It describes all necessary
precautions and maintenance operations which normally can be done by the user. It also
includes those operations which Emerson recommends that qualified service personnel
carry out in order to ensure safe, reliable, and economical operation.

Important

Proper and regular maintenance is very important in order to ensure trouble-free
operation of the Roxar Mechanical Retrieval Tool, and to keep it in good operating
condition over a long period of time.

5.1

Maintenance instruction

After the storage period, the tool must be checked to ensure that it is in operational
condition before being used. The check points described in this section assume the
retriever has been properly cleaned and maintained after its last use. If in doubt, follow the
maintenance instructions in

Maintenance after use

.

5.1.1

Performing a routine inspection

If the tool is to be used over a period of several days, this check should be performed daily,
before the first retrieval operation is started.

Procedure

1. Inspect the different components and verify that all are clean and undamaged.
2. Check that o-rings are in place at the bottom of the service valve and on the union

thread adapter of the mechanical retriever tool.

3. Check that by-pass valves and bleed valves are operating properly.
4. For the service valve, close and open both balls to verify functionality.
5. On the retriever, inspect the plug pilot and pilot body. Verify the spring

functionality of the plug pilot.

6. Expand the retriever and inspect the inner barrel for any damage.

Postrequisites

If the above points are inspected and no signs of damage, corrosion or missing
functionality are discovered, you can use the tool.
