WARNING

Risk to Personnel and Equipment: If primary pack and probe packing are not

replaced with every retrieval operation, they can open, result in a spill of corrosive

gas or liquid, and result in serious injury. Both primary packing and probe packing

should be replaced every retrieval operation. Never reuse either primary packing

or probe packing.

2. Inspect the threads on the mechanical plug and mount it on the plug pilot by

screwing it onto the plug hexagon until it seats at the plug pilot o-ring. Lubricate
the plug threads properly.

NOTICE

If the devices requires a specific orientation, make sure the orientation is correctly
marked on the top of the plug.

3. If applicable, expand the retriever and fit the safety clamp.
4. Install the expanded retriever on the service valve. Tighten the hammer nut

properly by using either a brass or a plastic hammer.

5. Verify that the retriever bleed valve and the service bleed valve are closed.
6. Slowly open the by-pass valves on the service valve to pressurize the retriever.

When the pressure is equalized, open both balls on the service valve.

7. If installed, remove the safety clamp and in a rotating-sliding movement, collapse

the retriever all the way until the plug stops at the access fitting.

NOTICE

Be careful when entering the plug onto the access fitting so that the threads are not
damaged.

8. Tighten the plug for approximately 15 turns until it seats in the access fitting. Then

tighten the plug properly so it is secure.

9. Bleed off the pressure in the retriever by opening the bleed valve. You can use a

diversion hose to divert the media being bled off.

10. Ensure that all pressure is released from the tool. Keep the bleed valve open.

DANGER

Danger to Personnel and Equipment: If the pilot body is not fully disconnected

from the plug hexagon, gasses or liquids will escape, causing serious injury. Make

sure that the pilot body is fully disconnected from the plug hexagon before

unscrewing the tool.

11. Unscrew the pilot plug from the plug and expand the tool. If applicable, mount the

safety clamp.

12. Remove both the retriever and the service valve.
13. If applicable, check orientation marks and use a wrench to rotate the plug clockwise

to align it.
