Chapter 6 Maintenance

This section describes replacing the internal battery pack, battery charging, precautions, checking the Liebert®

GXT4’s status and checking UPS functions.



Note

The battery can present a risk of electrical shock and high short circuit current. The following precautions should be observed
before replacing the battery pack:

1. Remove rings, watches and other metal objects.

2. Use tools with insulated handles.

3. Do not lay tools or other metal objects on the batteries.

4. If the battery kit is damaged in any way or shows signs of leakage, contact your local Emerson representative immediately.

5. Do not dispose of batteries in a fire. The batteries may explode.

6. Handle, transport and recycle batteries in accordance with local regulations.

6.1 Replacing The Internal Battery Pack

The Liebert GXT4 is designed to allow the trained personnel to replace the internal battery pack safely. Refer to Table

6-1 for internal battery pack part numbers for Liebert GXT4:

Note

Risk of explosion exists if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.

Battery replacement procedures

1. Remove the front plastic bezel cover from the UPS.

2. Loosen and remove the four screws on the battery door, as shown in Figure 6-1.
