OPERATION
BEFORE FIRST USE
1. Remove all packaging material from the unit. Keep plastic bags away from
children.
2. Clean all parts of the percolator thoroughly by following the instructions in the
”Maintenance” section.
3. Run one cycle of fresh, cold water (without ground coffee) through the unit by
following the instructions in the ”Use” section.
4. A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of entangling or
tripping. Extension cord may be used with carefulness. If an extension cord
is used, the marked electrical rating of the extension cord must be at least
as great as the electrical rating of the appliance (see type plate on bottom of
product). The extension cord must be arranged so that it will not hang over
the counter or table top; where it may be pulled on by children or tripped
over.
USE
Remove the cover, coffee basket lid and
basket, and the pump tube.
Fill the percolator with water up to the
desired marking. Use cold water for best
result.
Warning:
Do not fill with water over the ”6 /
0.75 L” (Helena 2.0) / ”12 / 1.5 L” (Helena
4.1) marking. If the coffee percolator is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected
and scalding may occur.
Run cold water over the coffee basket. It helps prevent ground coffee from getting
stuck in the holes of the coffee basket. Add a desired amount of coffee in the
basket. Distribute the coffee evenly.
Important:
Use coffee designed especially for percolators. Finer ground coffee
might shift through the holes of the coffee basket.
Place the pump tube and coffee basket into the percolator so the bottom of the
tube fits into the bottom of the percolator well.
Place the basket cover on top of the coffee basket and press the cover onto the
top of the percolator.
Connect the power base into an electrical outlet and place the assembled perco-
lator on the base.
Press the power button to start the brewing process. The red indicator illuminates
and the brewing begins within seconds.
Warning:
Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycle. Be
certain that the brewing process has stopped completely before removing cover.
Once brewing cycle is completed, the green indicator light will illuminate to show
that your coffee is ready. The percolator will go into keep-warm mode and will au-
tomatically shut off in approx. 30 minutes (30 minutes is the total time of brewing
and keep-warm mode). Press the on/off button again if you want to start a new
keep-warm cycle.
