5. Starting up a new machine
Caution is important when starting a new machine. Improper installation, operation or similar may
cause damage that is not covered by the machine warranty.
Check that the machine has been properly installed and that it has not been damaged during
transport.
ELHO Side Chopper Tornado is as standard delivered with the following drive shafts:
Primary shaft: Bondioli 810686CE007001 equipped with ~1800Nm friction clutch
Secondary shaft: Bondioli 8G7T155FX014001
Or similar drive shaft of other brands.
Make sure that the PTO shaft between the machine and the tractor has the proper length, not to
allow the telescope profile to reach its bottom position when the machine is lifted. Also, make
sure that the telescope profile of the PTO shaft is well lubricated and does not become stuck.
Also make sure that it is not possible for the PTO shaft to hit the machine frame, when the
cutting device is brought to its extreme positions. Also consider situations where the hydraulic
top link and the 3-P linkage system are in their extreme positions.
Especially, make sure that the hydraulic hoses are installed in a way which allows the machine
to be freely moved up and down.
Before starting the machine, make sure that the oil level in the gear box is correct.
Before engaging the PTO, the machine must be turned to working position, at the side of the
tractor. Make sure that PTO rotation speed is correct (540rpm). No loose objects must be left
under or on top of the machine. Also make sure that no persons are standing closely in front of
or behind the machine when it is started.
If necessary, check and tighten all screws and nuts after a couple of hours of operation. This is
particularly important for the knife bolts. This is particularly important for the lid of the chain
rotor.
