Administering the PS-17
The PS-17 includes features to assist with software updates and other items.
Maintaining optimal PS-17 performance
The PS-17 is designed to require no maintenance. In addition, the PS-17 supports multiple methods for optimizing
performance.
Reduce network traffic:
•
Only publish the print connections that are being used.
The PS-17 constantly checks all published connections, even if they are inactive. It is easy to re-establish
connections if required.
The related settings can be found in
Configure
>
Job Submission
.
•
Schedule less-urgent and recurring print jobs for low-traffic periods.
Move jobs that are not urgent to the Hold queue. At low-traffic periods, a PS-17 Administrator or Operator can
move jobs between queues.
•
Reduce unnecessary network communication.
Large numbers of users running PS-17 utilities, especially with frequent updates, may impact PS-17 performance.
Schedule PS-17 software updates and non-critical network usage for low-traffic periods.
•
Use the Preflight feature to minimize the number of reprints due to errors.
Use Preflight to confirm individual print job settings before the jobs are printed.
Confirm the Preflight settings are optimized for your print environment.
Preflight can be enabled in Command WorkStation, Hot Folders, and virtual printers.
Manage print jobs for greatest efficiency:
•
Confirm job mismatch settings are optimized for your print environment.
The timeout period can be reduced.
Jobs can be set to be canceled after the timeout expires.
The settings can be found in
Configure
>
Job Management
>
Job Mismatch
.
•
Disable the ability to preview jobs while the jobs are processing.
This setting can be found in

>
Job Management
.
•

This setting can be found in
