Security profiles
Security profiles give you quick access to settings that let you safeguard your PS-17. For more information, see
Configure Help
.
User data encryption
Enable user data encryption to secure the information stored on the PS-17 hard disk, consistent with the AES256
standard. You define a passphrase, which will be used to recover the data in the case of hardware replacement or
service.
For more information, see
Configure Help
.
Filtering IP addresses and ports
The PS-17 supports the following filtering options to prevent unauthorized connections:
•
You can specify which IP addresses are allowed access.
•
You can close unnecessary ports to reject inbound access from the network.
These options are available through
Configure
>
Security
.
Commands or jobs sent from unauthorized IP addresses or ports are ignored by the PS-17.
Configure PostScript security
PostScript security restricts access to the software, fonts, color files, and jobs on the PS-17.
To install fonts using a PostScript-based font downloader tool, clear this option.

From Configure, choose

Controlling email access to the PS-17
Because you can allow users to print file attachments in email messages sent to the PS-17, the PS-17 accepts only
valid attachments such as PS, EPS, PCL, TIFF, and PDF files.
The PS-17 also accepts Microsoft Office files (Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint) as valid attachments if
