THE

 E-42B 

1 At the copier control panel, press the Home button.

2 Make sure that the E-42B is not receiving, processing, or printing any files.

If the system has just finished processing, wait at least five seconds after the system reaches 
Idle before you proceed.

3 Tap the Fiery tab and then Restart Fiery.

4 Choose one of the following:

• Restart Fiery Service

Completely restarts (reboots) the E-42B, both the E-42B system software and the 
Windows operating system software on the E-42B.

• Restart System

Restarts the E-42B system software, but not the Windows operating system software on 
the E-42B.

• Shut  Down  System

Completely shuts down the E-42B.

5 If you shut down the E-42B, do the following:

• Press the Operation switch on the copier control panel, after shutting down the E-42B.

• Turn off the copier/printer using the main power switch on the copier/printer.

System Updates

With System Updates, you can schedule updates to E-42B system and user software. While 
updates install, you cannot use the E-42B. It may need to reboot several times. Schedule 
updates based on when the E-42B is not in use. 

If the E-42B is behind a firewall and Internet access is restricted, the site administrator can 
configure a proxy server at the customer site to allow the E-42B to receive system updates (see 

page 57

).

Check Now

Check Now is part of System Updates and is only available from the FACI or by logging on to 
the E-42B with Remote Desktop. It is not available from Configure. Use Check Now to view 
or install updates between scheduled system updates, or to view a list of previously installed 
updates.

Viewing a list of installed updates

If you need to confirm what updates are installed on the E-42B, print the Configuration page 
(see 

“Printing the Configuration page”

 on page 55).
