OPERATION

Work Area Precautions

WARNING: Cut only hedges or materials made from
wood. Do not cut metal, plastics, masonry, or
non-wood building materials.

• Never allow children to operate your hedge trimmer. Only allow

others to use this hedge trimmer who have read this Operator's
Manual or received adequate instructions for the safe and pro-
per use of this hedge trimmer.

• Keep everyone - helpers, bystanders, children, and animals a

safe distance from the cutting area (Fig. 21).

• Always cut with both feet on solid ground to prevent being

pulled off balance.

• Do not cut above chest height.
• Do not cut near electrical wires or buildings. Leave this opera-

tion for professionals.

• Cut only when visibility and light are adequate for you to see

clearly.

• Do not cut from a ladder, this is extremely dangerous.

Leave this operation for professionals.

• Stop the engine if the blade strikes a foreign object. Inspect the

blade and repair parts as necessary.

• Keep the blade out of dirt and sand. Even a small amount of dirt

will quickly dull a blade.

• Stop the engine before setting the hedge trimmer down.
• Be particularly cautious and alert while wearing hearing

protection because such equipment may restrict your ability to
hear sounds indicating danger (calls, signals, warnings, etc).

• Be extremely cautious when working on slopes or uneven

ground.

Starting The  Engine

• Place the hedge trimmer on level ground and ensure that no

objects or obstructions are in immediate vicinity which could
come in contact with the blade. Hold the front handle firmly with
the left hand and put your right foot onto the base of the rear
handle, see Fig. 22.
