Basic fault-finding
A list of fault conditions and their possible causes is provided here to assist you in fault-finding. If you are unable to
rectify a fault when you use this guide, call your nearest Edwards Service Centre for help.
5.13.1
The pump has failed to start
z
The electrical supply fuse is blown
z
The electrical supply voltage does not match the motor
z
The outlet pipeline or the outlet-filter (if fitted) is blocked
z
The oil temperature is below 12°C
z
The oil is too viscous
z
The oil is contaminated
z
The pump has seized after long storage
z
The pump has been left to stand after contaminants have been pumped and has seized
z
The motor is faulty.
5.13.2
The pump fails to achieve its specified performance
(Failure to reach ultimate vacuum).
z
The measuring technique or gauge is unsuitable
z
You have filled the pump with the wrong type of oil
z
There is a leak in your vacuum system
z
The gas-ballast control is set incorrectly
z
The oil-level is low
z
The oil is contaminated
z
Your vacuum fittings are dirty or damaged
z
The inlet-filter is blocked
z
The pump has not warmed up
z
The pump has failed to prime
z
Motor is rotating in the wrong direction.
