The function of the multifunction relay AUX must be set to modem reset .
If this setting has been selected, the system centre checks the availability of the modem and initiates a
modem hardware reset automatically as required.
If a modem hardware reset is needed, the system centre now switches off the modem for a short time
(approx. 10 seconds) and then switches it on again.

6.6.2 SMS Text Message Transmission via a GSM Modem
With the GSM modem, an SMS text message is sent in the same way as with a mobile telephone. As no
additional (land line) services are needed from the telephone provider, it is quicker and more reliable than a
conventional modem. When using a GSM modem, the following points must be considered, and in this order:
In addition to the main telephone number (telephony), the SIM contract of the GSM modem must also have
its own telephone number for data services (data service). Prepaid contracts are therefore generally not
suitable!
Connect the GSM modem to COM1/Modem.
Enter the
PIN of the GSM modem in Menu 4-1-5 - COM1/Modem.
6.6.3 FAX Transmission via ISDN Modem
If the FAX transmission of alarms and messages is also needed as well as the alarm type on a PC with the
LDSWIN PC software or the sending of SMS messages, an analogue modem must be installed in the system.
6.7 Switching on system centre
The system centre is switched on by applying the mains voltage to the N, L and PE terminals and to PE on the
M4 screw. For details, see chapter

6.8 Configuration of the E*LDS system using Service PC locally
The local configuration of E*LDS components can either be done directly on the device or using a service PC
(on which the LDSWin / VNC software is installed).
Entry of incorrect PIN numbers can result in card blocking! If the existing GSM modem including the
SIM card has to be replaced with a new one, the old PIN in the system centre
must be deleted before
the installation of the new GSM modem!

A short beep sounds approx. 2 minutes after switching on and the display of the main menu to check
the function of the internal audible alarm transmitter. The buttons can possibly be greyed out during the
start phase as a check of the data integrity is performed in the system centre under certain
circumstances.
Note: Operation of the buttons is locked out during this check as the end of the reorganisation is
waited for.

