WARNING – OBSERVE THE SUPPLY VOLTAGE LIMITATIONS
OF THIS UNIT. FAILURE TO OBSERVE THIS WARNING WILL
RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE UNIT. DAMAGE FROM
EXCESSIVE SUPPLY VOLTAGE IS NOT WARRANTABLE.
If you experience any problems with the installation or
commissioning, contact your Eaton representative for guidance.
INSTALLATION
Refer to the procedure and diagram shown to connect the DSFi.
PROCEDURE:
1.
CHECK
!
Always work safely – disconnect power before making
connections.
!
All wiring must be carried out by suitably qualified
personnel according to the applicable standards.
!
Check for correct operating voltage and power system.
This model (DSFi) is designed for TN-C and TN C-S power
systems in the range of 200-250V.
If your power system is
different or a different voltage, this model is not suitable
.
Please contact your supplier for information.
!
Always use the correct size supply fuses or breaker(32A
max.).
2.
INSTALL
!
Remove 4 screws on face of unit and remove
termination covers.
!
Fit cable glands as required. If glands are not required,
use a grommet to prevent cable damage.
!
Install unit to switchboard geartray, equipment cabinet or
other suitable location. Do not expose to direct sun or
water. Allow plenty of ventilation - do not mount inside a
small or sealed enclosure.
3.
CONNECT
!
Connect wiring - refer to connection diagram.
!
Use a suitably rated cable for power connections and
6mm
2
to 10mm
2
cable for earth connections.
!
Tighten glands if fitted. If not using glands, use cable ties
to secure cables.
!
Use short cables for phase, neutral and earth input
connections or protection will be reduced.
!
Use a suitably-rated cable for alarm connections. Cable
should be rated for operation at the system voltage and
should be 0.5mm
2
to 1.5mm
2
.
!
Refit termination covers and screws.
4.
NOTES:
!
Wiring to the unit’s input is carrying surge currents as
well as load current. Use the shortest possible
connection lengths. Keep input and output cables apart
!
Maximum alarm relay resistive load is 5A.
!
It is recommended not to connect the alarm contacts to
AC mains circuits if possible, to prevent flashover from
surges on the AC line. Connect to a PLC or BMS if
available.
!
Do not Megger test cabling with unit connected.
EARTHING
For proper operation, all surge filters rely upon a good earth
connection. In some installations the existing earth system may
require upgrading. Important things to look for are:
!
The main earth wire (from earth link on switchboard to ground
rod or system) MUST be at least 6mm diameter (preferably
larger) and should be as short as possible.
!
Earth connections from the unit to earth link
MUST
be as short
as possible.
Failure to consider the above points can result in improper
operation of the unit and possible damage to the installation.
Normal connection
Series-load connection
- Install separate equipment earth if practical.
