2.1 Introduction

This chapter describes in part the most important features in the power cir-
cuit of a drive system (PDS = power drive system) which you should take
into account in your project planning.
It contains instructions that must be followed when determining which
device to use with which assigned motor output, as well as when selecting
protection devices and switchgear, selecting cables, cable entries, and ope-
rating the DB1 variable frequency drive.
All applicable laws and local standards must be complied with when planning
and carrying out the installation. Not following the recommendations provi-
ded may result in problems that will not be covered by the warranty.
