TIP CARTRIDGE
REPLACEMENT/MAINTENANCE
Tip Cartridge replacement
Easy Braid tip cartridges are very easy to install and remove; make sure that you
turn off the power supply first. A simple “pull action” will disengage the tip
from its connector. When reinserting a new tip, the cleverly designed inner shaft
of the handpiece will self-center the tip in order to ensure quick and easy
assembly. A tip removal pad is included and should be used when inserting or
removing hot tips from the handpiece. This tip removal device is made of a
special heat shielded material and will protect the operator.
Important notice: Pliers should not be used when tip cartridges are being extracted from or inserted into
the handpiece. Any undue mechanical force may damage the heater coil and will result in premature
failure of the tip cartridge.
Tip Care
1.
Use good quality solder, impurities in the solder can build up on the tip,
effecting heat transfer and making it difficult to solder.
2.
Do not overfill the sponge tray with water, and always use DE-Ionized
Water. Please change the sponge regularly; solder residue can have an
abrasive effect on the end of tips and cause premature failure. Brass mesh
pads can also be used for the same purpose.
3.
Avoid using tip tinning pastes as they are corrosive and often leave black
residue on the tips. This black residue is hard to remove and will affect the
ability of the tip to take solder.
4.
Keep the tip tinned at all times--a non-tinned hot tip will oxidize quickly
and performance will be compromised.
5.
When reinserting tips, make sure they are properly seated in the shaft of
the soldering handpiece.
