Suitable location
A fully covered and heated storage has a huge
number of advantages. Being stored without a
covering roof during winter will be detrimental
to your TakeOff. In the long run, this could result
in leakage and deterioration of the construc-
tion. Placing it under a carport provides several
advantages. The wind blowing through is a
benefit rather than a disadvantage, it will keep
the TakeOff dry.
Gas, water and power
If the gas bottles are not allowed to be stored
in your TakeOff, then store them upright, in
a cool, well-ventilated space. Ensure that the
water system has been drained completely.
Ensure that the jerrycan is completely empty.
Disconnect all power sources and switch off
the circuit breaker. In case an on-board battery
is used: disconnect it during winter storage and
connect it to a suitable trickle charger.
Canvas flex-wall & awning
Always make sure that the tent fabric of the
canvas flex-wall, the awning and sleep-tunnel
tent are completely dry.
Hinges
Lightly lubricate the hinges of the roof
every year before winter storage, using
a grease-free and oil-free anti-corrosion
agent, such as silicone spray. This can
best be applied by use of a cloth (and
not by spraying directly on the hinges).
Always place a piece of cardboard or a
second cloth between the hinge and the
canvas flex-wall to keep the canvas clean
during lubrication.
Mattresses
Depending on the humidity in the storage, you
better store cushions, mattresses, blankets and,
for instance, sleeping bags at home as much as
possible, to prevent moulding.
Portable toilet
Make sure that the rinse water and waste tank
are completely empty and cleaned and, other
than that, follow the manufacturer’s instructions
for winter storage.
Cool box
Make sure that the cool box has been emp-
tied and cleaned entirely, leave it partly open
to ventilate and prevent moulding. In addition,
follow the manufacturer’s instructions for winter
storage.
Vermin
Never leave food stuffs, oils, sleeping
bags, etc. in the TakeOff during storage.
The less vermin is attracted to your cam-
ping gear, the less you will be bothered
by the undesired guests.
