1. To obtain the best results always keep your spray gun level and spray equally from side to side or up or down from the surface (Fig.5).
Avoid spraying at an angle as this will lead to runs on the surface (Fig.6).
2. Let your arm control the left to right movement rather than your wrist as this will aid even paint distribution over
the whole area (Fig.4).
3. Do not tip the spray gun to more than 45˚angle (Fig.7).
Paints, varnishes, wood treatments, etc, are manufactured using a variety of materials and have widely differing viscosities. You may find that the
0.08” (2.0mm) dia fluid tip and needle supplied with this spray gun does not enable you to spray your particular choice of finish exactly as you
would like. In such cases a change of fluid tip and needle size will probably solve this problem.
In general, thicker, more viscose materials are best sprayed through a larger fluid tip to give best coverage. Thinner, less viscose materials are best
sprayed through a smaller fluid tip.
To allow for these variations fluid tip and needle sets are available as optional extras in 1.0mm dia, 1.5mm dia and 2.5mm dia (see page 2).

The volume of paint sprayed is easily adjustable (Fig.4). Completely close Fluid Adjusting Screw (12) by turning this clockwise as
far as it will go. Whilst pulling the Trigger (25), begin turning the Fluid Adjusting Screw (12) anticlockwise until the volume of paint
you require is obtained. If the paint spray contains too much paint turn the Fluid Adjusting Screw (12) clockwise to reduce it. Once
you have set the spray pattern and the paint volume, you are ready to begin spraying.

Removing the needle
1. Carefully unscrew and remove Fluid Adjusting Screw (12) at the back of the Gun.
2. Remove Spring (11).
3. Pull back on Trigger (25) to release Fluid Needle (9) at the back of the Gun.
4. Remove Fluid Needle (9).
5. Unscrew Air Cap Ring (1).
6. Remove Air Cap (2).
7. Remove Spray Direction Plate (3).
8. Use Spanner (26) to remove Fluid Tip (4).

Note:
The white Fluid Tip Seal (5) that sits behind the Fluid Tip (4). Be careful not to lose this part.
Replacing the needle
10. Make sure the white Fluid Tip Seal (5) is sitting on the reverse of the Fluid Tip (4) and screw the Fluid Tip (4) into place.
11. Tighten with the included Spanner (26). This should not be too tight, but secure.
12. Place the Fluid Needle (9) into the back of the gun.
13. Place the Spring (11) over the Fluid Needle (11).
14. Screw the Fluid Adjusting Screw (12) into place.
15. Reposition the Spray Direction Plate (3) ensuring the location lugs are aligned with the grooves in the Gun.
16. Place the Air Cap (2) on top of the Spray Direction Plate (3).
17. Screw the Air Cap Ring (1) into place.
If using a different needle, the needle packing (Gland Nut (15) and Gland Washers (16)) may require adjustment. If needle movement is too tight/
needle sticking, the Gland Nut (15) should be loosened. If the spray is sputtering or there is fluid leaking from around the Gland Nut (15), it should
be tightened.
1. Evenly control the speed of movement of the spray gun. A fast speed will give a thin coat and a slow speed will give
a heavy coat.
2. Only apply one coat at a time. If a further coat is required follow the paint manufacturer’s instructions for drying times.
3. If spraying small areas or objects keep the Fluid Adjusting Screw (12) setting low as this will avoid excessive use of
paints and will minimise overspray.
4. When spraying large areas or objects, it is best to use a ‘criss-cross’ pattern, either from left to right then up or down
or vice-versa. This will ensure maximum coverage (Fig. 8).
5. Avoid stopping and starting when spraying as this can lead to too much or not enough material on a surface.
6. To ensure edges are covered, commence spraying just to the side of area being sprayed.

The overall size of the selected spray pattern can be varied by turning the Air Cap Ring (1). When viewed from the front, rotate it anticlockwise to reduce
the pattern size, or clockwise to increase the pattern size (Fig.3).
