5E DISK AND CASSETTE OPERATIONS
Cassettes and Disks have nine operations in common, as printed in the
Cassette/Disk module. Formatting applies only to disks.
Here is a description of each operation, along with which buttons should be pressed
for disk and which should be pressed for cassette. After pressing the indicated
buttons, follow any instructions given in the display, and then press ENTER to initiate
the function.
Two general rules:
To immediately stop any of these operations, press NO. Also,
after the operation is complete, you will usually need to press ENTER before
continuing.
Save Sequences
Disk:
Key in 2 then 1
Cassette:
Key 1 then 1
Saves all sequence information (segments and songs).
Save Sounds
Disk:
Key in 2 then 2
Cassette:
Key 1 then 2
Saves all User Sounds currently in memory.
Note:
This takes a very, very, very, very, very, long time if you have a Turbo SP-12
and the User sound memory is full. While waiting for the sounds to be saved, you
have an excellent opportunity to learn a new language, become an airline pilot, or
take a brief overseas vacation. And we might as well warn you now...you may need
two disks to save all the sounds. If so, the display will ask you to insert Disk #2; press
YES to continue the saving process. Cheer up, though it doesn’t take anywhere near
as long to save the second disk as the first one. The slow operation is inherent in the
1541 drive, not the SP-12.
Load Sequences
Disk:
Key in 2 then 3
Cassette:
Key 1 then 3
Loads all saved sequences into the SP-12.
Load Segment #
Disk:
Key in 2 then 11
Cassette:
Key 1 then 4
Loads an individual segment into the SP-12; specify the segment number.
Load Sounds
Disk:
Key in 2 then 5
Cassette:
Key 1 then 5
Loads all saved User Sounds into the SP-12. This takes almost as long as it did to
save them in the first place.
Load Sound #
Disk:
Key in 2 then 6
Cassette:
Key 1 then 6
Load an individual sound into the SP-12. When asked which sound to load, specify
the sound via location for example, if a tambourine user sound was in the bank 1
cowbell position, select bank 1 cowbell to load the tambourine sound back into the
SP-12.
