If the filter is so dirty that it cannot be cleaned anymore, the filter has
to be replaced immediately. The replacement has to be filled into the
Service and Replacement Report along with the date, description, short
identifier, and signature of the operator.
Checking the Stage 2 Filter (Activated Carbon Filter)
Carefully pull the activated carbon filter out of the enclosure. The level
of contamination of the filter can only be determined by way of weighing
it. The exhaust air monitor requests of the operator the current weight of
the filter. Its initial weight is indicated on the filter for reference. The cur
-
rent weight of the filter has to be determined with a sufficiently accurate
precision scale and entered on the exhaust air monitor. If the weight does
not exceed 130% of the initial weight, no further message is indicated.
If the current weight is heavier than 130% of the initial weight, both filter
stages have to be replaced. The replacement has to be entered on the
exhaust air monitor and documented in writing (see also Sect. 3.7.10).
3.7.10 Replacing the Filters (every year)
Caution
When the filters are replaced, be sure to avoid any contamina-
tion of the ambient air or other extraction units possibly existing
in the system on site after the monitoring and filtering unit.
Important
The new filters, unless they are installed right after they were
purchased, have to be stored dry and clean, protected from
potential contamination and deterioration.
Every 12 months, the exhaust air monitor indicates that it is mandatory
to replace the installed filters. To replace the filters, remove the lid panel
from the filter enclosure. A sticker on this panel also provides information
on the filter stages and the used filters.
Behind the panel, the filters are accessible. Information texts on them
make the filters easily identifiable. Information on the date of shipment
and, possibly, the weight are also provided on the filters.
Important
Only original filters approved of by the manufacturer and seller
are acceptable. If other filters are installed, this will cancel any
responsibility and warranty assumed for the product on the part
of the manufacturer and seller.
Info
Both filters have to be replaced at least once a year. It makes
sense to replace both of them always the same day. For filter
replacement as indicated by the unit, priority should be given to
the replacement at the correct intervals of the activated carbon
filter, since this is the main filter of the unit. If, exceptionally,
the particulate filter is replaced earlier or later than the acti-
vated carbon filter because it is unrecoverably dirty earlier or
later, then the replacement that does not match the standard
interval has to be documented separately in writing manually.
It is under the user’s responsibility to make sure that the
further replacements of the not-standard replaced filter
are performed at the correct intervals.
In all and any cases,
when one of the filters is replaced, the state of the other one
has to be checked.
Replacing the Stage 1 Filter (Particulate Filter)
Carefully pull the particulate filter out of the enclosure and install a new
particulate filter. Be sure that the filter sits right next to the sealing tape,
making contact with it. Possibly the sealing tape has to be replaced
too.
The replacement, the 12-month interval having expired, must be entered
