TIMER SETTINGS

DEFINITIONS

CARD TIMEOUT

- How long lane will wait for passage after a valid card is

presented before reset for next user.

ALARM RESET

- How long after an Alarm condition is triggered before

the sounder and output relay reset.

LOITER TIMEROUT

- How long a user may spend in the lane during a

passage.

IP Address

for the ES8900:

An ES8900 connected to a local area network is assigned a unique IP (Internet Protocol) address either automati-
cally (DHCP) or manually (Static). The physical network connection is achieved via a standard RJ-45 Ethernet con-
nection located in the top section of the main bollard midway between the I/O and Power boards, beside the USB
connector.

Dynamic IP address (DHCP):

If the ES8900 is attached to a network that has a DHCP server, its IP address will be dynamically assigned.

Each ES8900 has a unique

Network Name

 with the format of “

dsi-slnnnnnn

”, “nnnnnn” being a unique number for

each ES8900. This network name is located on a label near the I/O board and network connection.

From a Command Prompt (C:\) on a computer on the same network, type

ping “network name”

(Example: C:\ ping dsi-sl123456).

The result will show the IP address and verify connectivity between the computer and the ES8900.

Static IP address (Default):

If the ES8900 is not connected to a Local Area Network (LAN), or, when no DHCP server is available on the net-
work, the ES8900 will automatically use an IP address of 10.0.0.100 and a netmask of 255.255.255.0.

Computer setup

In order to access the ES8900’s settings page, a computer must be connected to the ES8900 using a network ca-
ble. The computer must be set to an IP address in the same range as the ES8900.

If both the ES8900 and the user’s computer are connected to the same dynamically addressed (DHCP) network
the computer will automatically be configured.

When connected directly to the ES8900, or, when on a network using static addresses, an IP address in the same
range must be assigned to the computer. An IP address of 10.0.0.150 and a netmask of 255.255.255.0 would be in
the range to connect to the default ES8900 address. The computer’s IP address can be set via the Control Panel in
the Windows operating system. Go to

“Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Control

Panel>Network>Change Network Configuration” ,

and edit the address of the network connection. After the com-

puter is set correctly and connected to the ES8900, enter the IP address of the ES8900 into the address bar of an
internet browser to get to the settings page.

With ES8900 powered-on and configured, connect computer to RJ-45 network port in SBC connectors under Top Cover.

Start browser and enter the ES8900’s Network Name in the address bar to load settings page.

Enter desired values and click Submit.
