For correct and effective use of the apparatus and to avoid hazards, it is
essential to read the following recommendations and to act accordingly:
Strictly follow the instructions for use
Any use of the half mask and respiratory filter requires full understanding and
strict observation of these instructions. The half mask and respiratory
filter may only be used for the purposes specified here.
Liability for proper function or damage
Liability for proper functioning of the apparatus is irrevocably transferred to
the owner or operator to the extent that the apparatus has been serviced or
repaired by personnel not employed or authorized by Dräger Safety or if the
apparatus is used in a manner not conforming to its intended use.
Dräger Safety cannot be held responsible for damage caused by non-
compliance with the above recommendations.
The warranty and liability provisions of the terms of sale and delivery of
Dräger Safety are similarly not modified by the above
recommendations.

Intended use
The half mask and the respiratory filter form a filter device that provides
protection against harmful gases and vapours as well as against particles.
The choice of respiratory filter depends on the conditions of the contaminant
environment.
Conditions for use
• The ambient air must contain at least 17 % by volume oxygen. Do not
enter unventilated areas such as containers, shafts or ducts when
wearing this mask.
• The type and concentration of the contaminants must be known.
• Ensure adequate eye and head protection.
• Use a suitable respiratory filter. The weight of the respiratory filter must
not exceed 300 g. Note the instructions for use of the respiratory filter.
• The filter device may only be used by duly instructed personnel.
• If it is to be used in a potentially explosive atmosphere, treat the mask with
an antistatic spray or use a water screen.
Suitable respiratory filters
All approved filters in accordance with EN 141:2000, EN 143:2000,
EN 371, EN 14387 with a standard thread connection according to EN 148,
Section 1, e.g. Dräger RA-filters can be used.
Using the mask
• Screw the respiratory filter in.
• Hang the straps around your neck so that the half mask rests on your
chest.
• Hold the mask in front of your face and draw the head straps over your
head.
• Position the head straps above your ears.
• Tighten the straps so that the mask is comfortable and fits tightly over your
face.
• The head straps can also be worn over a hard hat. The half mask is put
on as described above.
Testing before use
Does the mask fit?
• Hold your hand over the filter and inhale until a vacuum is created.
Hold your breath for a moment. The vacuum must be maintained.
If it is not:
• Retighten the straps
or use a different size of mask.
• The half mask may not fit correctly over a beard or drooping cheeks.
The tight fit of the mask must have been successfully tested before you enter
hazardous locations - danger of poisoning!
The half mask must fit tightly and the respiratory filter must be installed before
entering the contaminated area!
Cleaning, Disinfection and Drying
Cleaning:
Cleaning immediately after use prevents premature wear.
Do not use organic solvents such as acetone, alcohol, benzene, spirit,
trichloroethylene or the like. Wash all the parts in lukewarm water using
a general-purpose cleaner such as Sekusept Cleaner (Fa. Henkel KGaA,
Düsseldorf) and a cloth. Rinse thoroughly in running water.
Disinfecting:
Place all the parts in a bath of disinfectant such as Incidur (Fa.
Henkel KGaA, Düsseldorf). Follow the manufacturer's instructions. If using
other disinfectants, make sure they do not have an adverse effect on rubber
and plastic parts. Rinse thoroughly in running water.
Drying:
Ensure that the temperature does not exceed 60 °C.
Assembly and testing
Place the disk of the inhalation valve behind the stub.
The disk should rest evenly on the sealing area inside the mask body.
Inspecting the exhalation valve
Remove the yoke from the mask body.
Hold the valve disk by the edge and pull it out.
Examine the valve seat for dirt and damage and wipe it clean with a
disposable tissue if necessary.
Place the valve disk on a leveled surface; it should lie completely flat.
After examining the valve disk, press it into the valve seat until it engages.
The valve should lie completely flat.
Assembly of mask
Arrange the straps.
Attach the yoke to the mask body. Screw in a new respiratory filter.
Serviceability check and leak test
A serviceability check
must be carried out every time it has been cleaned or
after any component parts have been replaced. All parts are to be examined
for tears, brittleness or deformations. The valve disks must be moveable, the
valve seat must be clean and undamaged.
The air-tightness can be checked using a special support and a standard
mask testing device, e.g. Dräger Testor.
The exhalation valve disk and the seal seat are to be moistened with water.
A negative pressure of 7 mbar is produced with the testing device. The valve
is regarded as air-tight if the pressure change is less than 1 mbar within 1
minute. If a sufficient seal cannot be achieved then a new exhalation disk is
to be fitted.
Maintenance Intervals
The maximum service life is two years.
1)
for devices in airtight packaging, otherwise twice a year.
2)
for devices in airtight packaging every two years.
Storage
Half mask has a maximum shelf life of four years from the date of
manufacture; it can be used for a maximum of two years within this time. Half
mask must be stored in a dry, dust-free place without being deformed.
Storage temperature:
–10 °C to 55 °C at <90 % rel. humidity. Avoid exposure to direct light and
heat.

Das Gesetz über technische Arbeitsmittel (Gerätesicherheitsgesetz)

Jede Handhabung an Halbmaske und Atemfilter setzt die genaue Kenntnis
und Beachtung dieser Gebrauchsanweisung voraus. Halbmaske und
Atemfilter sind nur für die beschriebene Verwendung bestimmt.
Haftung für Funktion bzw. Schäden
Die Haftung für die Funktion von Halbmasken und Atemfiltern geht in jedem
Fall auf den Eigentümer oder Betreiber über, soweit sie von Personen, die
nicht Dräger Safety angehören, wunschgemäß gewartet oder
instandgesetzt werden, oder wenn eine Handhaung erfolgt, die nicht der
bestimmungsgemäßen Verwendung entspricht.
Für Schäden, die durch die Nichtbeachtung der vorstehenden Hinweise
eintreten, haftet Dräger Safety nicht. Gewährleistungs- und
Haftungsbedingungen der Verkaufs- und Lieferbedingungen von Dräger
Safety werden durch vorstehende Hinweise nicht erweitert.

Verwendungszweck
Halbmaske und Atemfilter bilden ein Filtergerät, das gegen schädliche
Gase, Dämpfe und Partikel schützt. Die Wahl des Atemfilters richtet sich
nach der Schadstoffumgebung.
Voraussetzungen für den Gebrauch
• Die Umgebungsluft muß mindestens 17 Vol. % Sauerstoff enthalten,
unbelüftete Behälter, Gruben, Kanäle usw. dürfen mit Filtergeräten nicht
betreten werden.
• Die Art und Konzentration der Schadstoffe muß bekannt sein.
• Auf notwendigen Augen- und Kopfschutz achten.
• Geeigneten Atemfilter auswählen. Das Gewicht des Atemfilters darf 300g
nicht überschreiten. Gebrauchsanweisung des Atemfilters beachten!
• Gebrauch des Filtergerätes nur durch eingewiesene Personen.
• Für Einsätze im Ex-gefährdeten Bereich Maske mit Antistatik-Spray
behandeln oder Wasserschleier verwenden.
Verwendbare Atemfilter
Alle nach EN 141:2000, EN 143:2000, EN371, EN 14387 zugelassenen
Filter mit Standardgewinde nach EN 148, Abschnitt 1, z. B. Dräger RA-
Filter, können verwendet werden.
Gebrauch
• Atemfilter einschrauben.
• Bänderung so über den Kopf streifen , daß die Halbmaske vor der Brust
hängt.
• Maskenkörper vor das Gesicht halten und Kopfgarnitur der Bänderung in
Richtung Kopf ziehen.
• Kopfgarnitur oberhalb der Ohren entlangführen und auf den Hinterkopf
setzen.
• Bänderung stramm ziehen, bis Maske bequem und fest am Gesicht
anliegt.
• Kopfbänderung kann auch auf dem Schutzhelm getragen werden.
Anlegen der Halbmaske wie vorstehend beschrieben.
Prüfung vor dem Gebrauch
Paßt die Maske?
• Filter mit der Hand dichthalten und einatmen, bis Unterdruck entsteht.
Luft kurzzeitg anhalten. Der Unterdruck muß bestehen bleiben, sonst:
• Bänder nachziehen,
oder andere Größe verwenden.
• Bärte oder tiefliegende Wangenknochen können u.a. den erforderlichen
dichten Sitz der Halbmaske beeinträchtigen - Vergiftungsgefahr!
Gefahrenbereiche nur mit erfolgreich dichtgeprüfter Maske betreten -
Vergiftungsgefahr!
Einsatz nur mit dichter Halbmaske und eingebautem Atemfilter antreten!
Reinigen, Desinfizieren und Trocknen
Reinigen:
Sofortiges Reinigen nach Gebrauch beugt einer vorzeitigen
Abnutzung der Halbmaske vor.
Zum Reinigen keine Lösungsmittel wie Aceton, Alkohol, Benzol, Spiritus, Tri
oder ähnliche Mittel verwenden. Alle Teile mit lauwarmem Wasser unter
Zusatz eines Universalreinigungsmittels wie Sekusept Reiniger (Fa. Henkel
KGaA, Düsseldorf) und einem Lappen reinigen. Unter fließendem Wasser
gründlich spülen.
Desinfizieren:
Alle Teile in ein Desinfektionsbad wie z. B. Incidur (Fa. Henkel
KGaA, Düsseldorf) einlegen. Anwendungsvorschriften des Herstellers
beachten! Bei Verwendung anderer Desinfektionsmittel sicherstellen, daß
diese keine Beeinträchtigung an Kunststoff- oder Gummiteilen der
Halbmaske verursachen. Unter fließendem Wasser gründlich spülen.
Trocknen:
Temperatur von 60 °C nicht überschreiten.
Montieren und Prüfen
Scheibe des Einatemventils hinter den Zapfen knüpfen.
Scheibe soll innen im Maskenkörper gleichmäßig auf der Dichtfläche
aufliegen.
Sichtprüfung Ausatemventil
Flügel vom Maskenkörper abknüpfen.
Ventilscheibe am Rand anfassen und herausziehen.
Ventilsitz auf Verschmutzung und Beschädigung prüfen, ggf. mit
Einwegtuch reinigen.
Ventilscheibe auf eine ebene Fläche legen; Scheibe soll gleichmäßig und
eben aufliegen.
Die geprüfte Ventilscheibe bis zum Einrasten in den Ventilsitz drücken. Die
Scheibe soll gleichmäßig und eben aufliegen.
Maske komplettieren
Bänderung ordnen.
Flügel auf Maskenkörper knüpfen. Neuen Atemfilter einschrauben.
Funktions- und Dichtprüfung
Eine Funktionsprüfung hat grundsätzlich nach jeder Reinigung oder dem
Austauschen von Einzelteilen zu erfolgen. Alle Teile sind auf Risse,
Brüchigkeit oder Verformung zu untersuchen. Die Ventilscheiben müssen
beweglich, die Ventilsitze sauber und ohne Beschädigung sein.
Die Dichtheit kann mit einem speziellen Stutzen und einem handelsüblichen
Maskenprüfgerät, z.B. Dräger Testor, überprüft werden.
Die Ausatemventilscheibe und der Dichtsitz sind mit Wasser zu befeuchten.
Mit dem Prüfgerät wird ein Unterdruck von 7 mbar erzeugt. Das Ventil gilt
als dicht, wenn die Druckänderung innerhalb 1 Minute nicht mehr als 1 mbar
beträgt. Ist keine ausreichende Dichtigkeit zu erzielen, muss eine neue
Ausatemscheibe montiert werden.
Instandhaltungsintervalle
Die maximale Gebrauchsdauer beträgt 2 Jahre.
1)
bei luftdicht verpackten Geräten, sonst halbjährlich.
2)
bei luftdicht verpackten Geräten alle 2 Jahre.
Lagerung
Die Halbmaske besitzt eine maximale Lagerzeit von 4 Jahren ab
Herstelldatum; innerhalb dieser Zeit kann sie maximal 2 Jahre verwendet
werden.
Halbmaske ohne Verformung trocken, kühl und staubfrei lagern.
Lagertemperatur:
–10 °C to 55 °C bei <90 % rel. Luftfeuchtigkeit. Vor direkter Licht- und
Wärmeeinstrahlung schützen.
Temperatur
Im Einsatz –30 °C bis 60 °C
Ersatzteile sind für X-plore 4340 nicht vorgesehen.
