4.2.2
Closing the fastener system
When closing the fastener system, avoid diagonal forces
on the zip.
Pull the zipper mechanism together by hand.
The zipper tab will trail more easily.
Foreign objects, such as shirt, jacket, threads, etc. must
not be trapped between the zip elements.
4.3
Preparation for use
4.3.1
Preparing the chemical protective suit
1. Check for leaks before using the suit for the first time in
order to detect any damage due to transport. Then follow
the maintenance intervals (see Chap. 6.1 on Page 20).
2. Place the chemical protective suit flat on the ground and
inspect visually (see Chap. 6.2 on Page 20).
3. If fitted, check the function of the regulating valve. If there
is no air supply connected, seal the regulating valve
connections to protect against dirt.
4. Pull apart the straps on the full face mask.
4.3.2
Putting on the chemical protective suit
1. Put on underclothing (moisture-wicking work clothing).
2. Without shoes, first step into the right trouser leg and the
protective boot, then into the left trouser leg and protective
boot.
3. Pull up the chemical protective suit to the waist.
4. If the chemical protection suit has a regulating valve, close
the belt.
5. Don the full face mask.
6. Check proper functioning of the full face mask as described
in the instructions for use of the relevant full face mask.
7. Slip the arms into sleeves and gloves.
8. Close the fastener system. Always pull in the direction of
the zip. Do not use force!
9. Pull the suit material up in front of the body, and down
behind the body. This is ensured when the breathing
apparatus is fitted.
10. Put on the breathing apparatus.
11. Check the correct functioning of the breathing apparatus.
12. If the chemical protection suit has a regulating valve,
connect the air supply with the regulating valve or seal the
connectors.
13. Fit the overgloves, if applicable:
Pull the K-MEX
®
Gigant overglove over the arm ring.
Pull the Tricotril
®
overgloves over the arm ring and
secure with the corresponding rubber ring.
14. Put on the safety helmet where applicable.

Observe during use
Never start a mission alone!
Observe the operating time, limitations and specific
national regulations. The maximum operating time may
also depend on the used respiratory protective device and
the operating conditions.
Leave the contaminated area immediately in a case of
emergency. Open fastener system in clean area only.
4.5
After use
4.5.1
Pre-cleaning of the chemical protective suit
1. Leave the contaminated area and have the chemical
protective suit precleaned by an assistant. The assistant
must also wear protective clothing and breathing apparatus
where necessary. For pre-cleaning, Dräger recommends
using plenty of water to which a detergent has been added.
This will be sufficient to wash away most chemicals (acids,
alkalis, organic and inorganic substances).
2. Clean the chemical protective suit thoroughly for a
sufficient time. Avoid spreading chemicals.
3. In the event of contamination with hazardous substances,
dispose of the waste water in line with the relevant waste
water disposal regulations.
4. If necessary, carry out decontamination in several steps.
Further information on decontamination can be obtained
from Dräger.
NOTICE
Dräger recommends that you keep the flat bags in
which the chemical protective suit was delivered for
later storage purposes.
WARNING
Do not use a damaged chemical protective suit. If you
do, you risk death or serious injury.
NOTICE
Select the required suit size. Get a second person to
assist you with donning the suit.
NOTICE
Dräger recommends tucking the trouser legs of the
underclothing into the socks to prevent the trouser legs
shifting.
To prevent the cotton gloves slipping down, they
should be fixed using insulation tape on the wrist.

CAUTION
A heat build-up in the chemical protective suit can
result in circulatory collapse; for this reason, wear a
cooling vest underneath or use a suitable ventilation
system, as appropriate.
WARNING
Never touch contaminated parts unless wearing
protective clothing. Avoid contaminating the clean
interior of the suit.
Failure to meet the required safety precautions may
result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION
If precleaning is not possible on site, remove and close
the suit immediately to prevent chemicals from
entering the suit.
