Feature description
The Dräger PEX 1000 consists of a housing and an electronic system.
The housing is made of plastic and can be mounted directly to a DIN rail using the holding
clamps on the rear side.
The PEX 1000 is a transducer for measuring the partial pressure of flammable gases and
vapours present in the atmosphere.
The voltage measured at the PEX 1000 is amplified by the electronics, indicated on the display
and converted into a 4 to 20 mA signal which is transmitted to the controller unit.

Intended use
The PEX 1000 is intended to be used for fixed installed, continuous monitoring for mixtures of
flammable gases and vapours with air under atmospheric conditions. The full-scale value is
100 % or 10 % of the lower explosive limit (LEL). The PEX 1000 is connected to a suitable
controller unit by means of a shielded three-core cable, the measurement signal during normal
operation is between 3.8 and 20.5 mA.
The PEX 1000 is intended to be used in combination with a remote Dräger sensing head, e.g.
Polytron SE Ex PR ... DD/DQ and HT M DD/DQ (100 %LEL).
The PEX 1000 is approved for an ambient temperature range from –40 °C to +65 °C.
In conjunction with a suitable controller unit with preset alarm thresholds acoustic or optical
alarm devices can be activated or automatic countermeasures can be initiated before the
detected gases or vapours can form dangerous flammable mixtures with air.
The PEX 1000 must be operated in an earthed control cabinet when used in an industrial
environment.
NOTICE
The DrägerSensors PR M DD, HT M DD and PR NPT DD are to be replaced by the
new DrägerSensors PR M DQ, HT M DQ and PR NPT DQ. The DD sensors and the
DQ sensors can still be used with the PEX 1000/3000.
