appears. In addition, the red indication lights up. Press
the button to continue with the next measurement.
4.6 Functional test/quality assurance
The functional test is carried out by automatically testing the ambient
air every time the device is started up. Dräger recommends that you
carry out an additional functional test using ethanol once a week for
quality assurance purposes. Quality testing must be carried out in
accordance with Section 9 MPBetreibV (German Medical Devices
Operator Ordinance).
Carry out a functional test as follows:
1. Prepare a bottle with a solution containing approximately 1 g
ethanol per 1 liter water or a roughly 1% ethanol flushing solution
(see "Order list", page 61).
2. Remove the mouthpiece from the device.
3. Call up the context menu using the button.
4. Choose the functional test with the or button and confirm
with the button.
5. Place the metal piece of the mouthpiece receptacle of the device
that is ready for measurement without a mouthpiece on the
opening of a bottle. Alternatively, add a few drops of the solution to
an absorbent paper towel and hold the device over it — again, do
not attach a mouthpiece.
6. Briefly press the button. The device performs a measurement
and displays the result.
Reading the results

appears on the display and the red LED illuminates:
