The feedscrew puller is a great aid in the installation and removal of the grinder feedscrew. it
works great when adjusted properly. if it is out of adjustment it should not be used.
Roll the feedscrew back until the
lock is engaged. Use the safety
chain as soon as some of the
flighting has exited the grinder
barrel. After cleaning the
feedscrew it should be installed
back into the grinder. Never
crawl under the feedscrew or
place any body parts under the
feedscrew. Remember to work
safely. Inspect all fasteners and
parts before use, do no use if you
think something has been
damaged .
The feedscrew puller can be adjusted easily with the use of a level. Place the level on the
grinder head, then on the beam. The head and beam need to read exactly the same! Use the
bolt at the end of the beam and the handle on the back leg to adjust the height while
maintaining the same level reading. When adjusted properly the pin on the feedscrew puller
should slide into the pin hole with little to no effort. Turn the "Y" bolt on the feedscrew puller
and the screw is lifted and tilted back slightly. Less than one half to three quarters of a turn is
required to lift the feedscrew. When properly adjusted very little effort is required to remove
the feedscrew. If constant adjustments of the "Y" bolt is required, check the level settings
again. No attempt to remove the feedscrew puller should be made with the feedscrew
hanging on the feedscrew puller. The feedscrew and head have little clearance, careful
adjustment of the feedscrew puller will allow safe removal of the feedscrew. Make no attempt
to use the feedscrew puller if there is meat in the grinder! If the feedscrew puller is moved
(without the feedscrew on it) make sure the trolley is in the locked position.
