Preventive Maintenance
Periodic Cleaning
The RRD42 does not require periodic cleaning. To maintain
maximum performance, ensure the environment where the
drive is installed is free from contamination.
NOTE
If errors occur, clean the disc. Refer to the following
section for information on how to clean a disc.
Disc Care • Do not drop the disc or caddy.
• The caddy’s shutter automatically opens when it is inserted
into the drive. Do not open the shutter manually and touch
the disc.
• When transporting the drive, remove the caddy from the
drive.
• Do not put the disc and caddy in a location subject to:
Dust
Direct sunlight
High temperature
High humidity
• When a disc is dirty, clean it with a clean, lint-free cloth.
Wipe the disc from the center out.
• Do not use solvents, such as benzene, thinner, commercial
cleaners, or antistatic sprays.
