System Fans

System Fan
Removal

NOTE

Before the system is powered down, have the system
manager perform a system shutdown if needed.

There are three system fans on the bottom of the unit. To remove
a failed or damaged system fan:

Step

Action

Refer to Figure 7–19

Perform the system shutdown.

–

Power down the unit.

–

Remove all bulkhead cables from
rear.

–

Face the front of the unit.
Carefully tilt the unit back,
so it is resting on its rear panel.

Remove the fan screw.

Slide the fan boot as shown.

Disconnect the fan cable.

Remove the fan.
