Maintenance Log
EDX Series gas-fired infrared heaters require minimum routine maintenance to keep them operating at peak
performance. The inspection shall be performed annually by trained gas installation and service personnel. It
is recommended that this inspection is performed before the beginning of the heating season to help ensure
all heater components are in proper working order and the heating system functions appropriately. Particular
attention should be paid to the following:
• Ensure that the squirrel cage in the blower is kept clean. If dirt becomes a problem, installation of outside
air intake ducts for combustion is recommended.
• Oil the blower motor annually to help extend its life.
• Periodically check the integrity of the combustion tube and heat exchangers. Replace if there are signs of
structural failure. Contact trained, qualified service personnel if repairs are necessary. Do
not
operate unit.
• Periodically inspect the integrity of the gas connection to the heater. Check for leaks, damage, fatigue, or
corrosion. Contact trained, qualified service personnel if repairs are necessary. Do
not
operate unit and
turn off the gas supply to the heater.
• Periodically inspect the integrity of the heater venting system. Check for sooting, leaks, damage, fatigue, or
corrosion. Contact trained, qualified service personnel if repairs are necessary. Do
not
operate unit.
• To maintain effective infrared heating, always keep reflectors clean by vacuuming or blowing off dirt and/or
dust from both sides of the reflector.
• Check integrity of the electrode. If damaged, it must be replaced complete with the electrode holder.
