REAR WHEEL
REMOVAL
1. Turn the bike upside down so that it rests on the handlebar and seat.
2. Locate the coaster brake arm. (Fig 3.1) Using a 3 mm Allen Key and an 8 mm
wrench, loosen and remove the nut and bolt securing the coaster brake arm to the
chain stay. (Fig 3.2)
3. Locate the shi
ft
unit installation bolt (Fig 4.1) on the bell crank (Fig 4.2) for
the internal hub shi
ft
ing system. Using a 5 mm Allen Key, loosen the shi
ft
unit
installation bolt so that the bell crank can be slid o
ff
of the axle.
4. Locate and remove the shi
ft
er push rod. (Fig 4.3) Set aside for re-installation later.
5. Locate the rear wheel axle nuts. (Fig 4.4) Using the 15 mm combination wrench,
loosen them until the axle slides freely in the dropouts.
6. Firmly grasp the rear wheel and pull forward and upward to remove the rear
wheel from the frame drop-outs.
7. Remove the chain from the rear sprocket.
8. Remove the wheel from the frame.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the chain onto the rear sprocket. Place rear wheel into frame.
2. Firmly grasp the rear wheel; push wheel down and back to seat the axle into the
frame drop-outs. Ensure that the anti-rotation washer tooth (Fig 3.3)

ts into the
frame drop-out.
3. Center the wheel in the frame, and push the axle back in to the drop-outs until the
chain is snug and has between
¼
” and
½
” of play midway between the sprockets.
4. Secure the coaster brake arm to the chain stay. Using a 3mm Allen Key and an
8mm wrench, install the retaining bolt for the coaster brake arm in the chain stay
mounting bracket,
DO NOT
tighten this bolt. (Fig 3.1, 3.2)
5. Using a 15 mm wrench, alternately tighten the rear axle nuts, ensuring the wheel
remains centered in the frame and the chain remains at the proper tension. (Fig
4.4)
6. Once both axle nuts are tightened, tighten the coaster brake arm attaching bolt.
(Fig 3.1, 3.2)
7. Insert the shi
ft
er push rod into the hub axle. (Fig 4.3) It should extend
approximately 14 mm from the end of the axle.
8. Install the bell crank onto the hub axle; (Fig 4.2) ensure that the serrations on the
bell crank and the axle nut are aligned.
Th
e edge of the bell crank window and the
end of the hub axle should be aligned.
9. Using a 5 mm Allen Key, tighten the shi
ft
unit installation bolt. (Fig 4.1)
10. Spin the wheel to ensure it spins freely and remains centered.
