Positioning and pre-application
• The antenna must be mounted on a con-
ductive (metal) surface of at least 2 square
feet. A minimum distance of 5 inches
should be kept from the molding of the
rear window.
• The antenna should always be mounted
outside, on the highest location of your
vehicle (roof/cab).
Never mount the antenna
inside the passenger compartment.
Figure 10 shows three typical mounting
locations.
• Position the antenna in such a way that
it will be free of mechanical (outward-open-
ing moon roof) and line-of-sight obstruc-
tions such as roof racks, luggage boxes, etc.
In these instances, it may be advantageous
to consider positioning the antenna offset
from the vehicle centerline.
• Trunk mounting of the antenna is an
alternative for hard- or soft-top convertibles
with nonmetallic rooftops.
