Installing System Components
Cooling Fans
This system contains four hot-plug cooling fans, connected directly to the system board.
NOTICE:
In the event of a problem with a particular fan, the fan’s number is referenced by the system’s
management software, allowing you to easily identify and replace the proper fan.
Removing a Cooling Fan
CAUTION:
Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the system cover and access any of the
components inside the system. See your

for complete information about safety
precautions, working inside the computer, and protecting against electrostatic discharge.
NOTE:
The procedure for removing each individual fan module is the same.

Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 46.

Compress the two latches on the top of the fan, then remove the fan. See Figure 3-4.
