Note
Each node has four 10 GbE ports. Two are used by for internal network
communication. The other two ports are used for VMware high availability, DRS,
and client network traffic.
The switches must have sufficient available network ports to accommodate the
following:
l
Data network 10 GbE switches: Two, 10 GbE ports per node, per switch
l
Management network switches: One, 1 GbE and one BMC (iDRAC) port per
node.
IP addresses
Note
The AMS or discovery server must reside on the same Layer 2 physical network
(or VLAN) as the ESXi management Port (Broadcast Domain). The Ethernet
broadcast protocol is used during the initial detection and deployment process.
Virtual IP and AMS features are not supported by ScaleIO Ready Node v2.0, but it
is recommended to take the corresponding configurations into account when
planning your network, to streamline future support for these features. Reserve
an additional IP address in each Data Network for future use.
Prepare IP addresses in your network for the ScaleIO Ready Node servers, based
on the following calculations:

1. Node_MGMT_IP = Management IP addresses of the ScaleIO Ready

AMS server\Proxy
IP address The IP address used by the AMS server\proxy software to manage the
ScaleIO Ready Node servers and logical entities
(recommended to reside on the same subnet, unless the proxy is used for
Discovery operations)
The formula to calculate IP address subnet pool or subnet needs is: N*Node_MGMT_IP
+N*SVM_N*BMC_M Optional (AMS server IP address)
Note
Each pool can belong to a single subnet or to several subnets, as long as the AMS
server has routable networking access to the Management IP address.
