Special cables must be used when attaching an ES30 to a chain with a DS60.
Specifically, one HOST (circle) connection and one EXPANSION (diamond) cables are
connected between the ES30 LCC and the DS60 LCC connection. Since this is not a
common situation, only two expansion cable lengths are available.

WARNING
l
The rack or cabinet should be securely bolted to the floor for personnel
safety; if not, it could tip over. If securing the rack to the floor is not feasible,
and you have less than a fully populated configuration, for personnel safety
you must ensure a low center of gravity.
l
Data Domain-supplied racks have an interlock that prevents more than one
DS60 from being pulled out of the rack at one time. This is not true for
customer-supplied racks. Do not pull out more than one DS60 at one time,
otherwise there is a much greater risk of the rack tipping.
The following safety requirements must be considered when the unit is mounted in a
rack.
l
Ensure that the site requirements have been met. Review the
page 10.
l
The rack design should incorporate stabilizing features suitable to prevent the rack
from tipping or being pushed over during installation or in normal use.
l
When loading a rack with the units, fill the rack from the bottom up and empty the
rack from the top down.
l
The controller must be in the recommended position shown in the diagrams in
Requirements for combining DS60 and ES30 shelves
on page 26.
l
All products in the rack must have front-to-back cooling to prevent air
recirculation.
l
The rack should have a safe electrical distribution system. It must provide
overcurrent protection for the unit and must not be overloaded by the total
