6.3.2 Functional test (PHE3... voltage detectors with nominal voltage selector switch)
Before verifying safe isolation from supply voltage, a functional test must be performed.
This functional test may only be performed in the
"3...10 kV"
position of the nominal voltage se-
lector switch. When pressing the
"TEST" button
(for approximately 3 seconds; see Fig. 6.3.2,
page 13) the indicator is switched on and is checked for proper operation. When pressing the
"TEST" button
, the red indicator light flashes and an intermittent acoustic signal sounds. When
releasing the
"TEST" button
the green indicator light is permanently illuminated. The voltage
detector is operational for
approximately 90 to 120 seconds.
If the functional test cannot be performed properly, insert a new battery (see 9.3, page 14). Now
repeat the functional test. If the indication signals described above still do not appear, immediately
remove the voltage detector from service and send it to
DEHN + SÖHNE
for repair.
6.3.3 Using the voltage detector in an installation
(PHE3... voltage detectors with nominal voltage selector switch):
After performing a functional test (green indicator light is permanently illuminated) and before ve-
rifying safe isolation from supply voltage, the nominal voltage selector switch must be set to the
nominal voltage of the installation to be tested.
Safe isolation from supply voltage of installations with a nominal voltage of 10 kV can be optionally
verified in
position 1 (3...10 kV)
or
position 2 (10...30 kV)
(see Fig. 6.3.1, page 11) of the
nominal voltage selector switch.
The test electrode (see Fig. 2, page 5 and Fig. 3, page 6) of voltage detector can now be
moved towards the part of the installation to be tested. The relevant voltage / operating state of
the part of the installation to be tested is now visually and acoustically indicated via the indication
signals (see Fig. and Table 6.3.2). The voltage test may only be performed as long as the green in-
dicator light is permanently illuminated, that is the voltage is ready for testing.
As soon as the voltage detector is
no longer operational
(see Pkt. 6.3.2)
, it switches off auto-
matically.
If further tests are to be carried out, press the
"TEST" button
again to perform a functional test.
For this purpose, the nominal voltage selector switch must be set to the
"3...10 kV" position
.
The voltage detector is immediately ready for testing again.
If
"voltage present" (red indicator light)
is indicated, an electronic interlock prevents that
the detector automatically switches off during testing. After the test has been completed, the
device remains ready for testing (permanent green indicator light) as long as it is operational (see
Fig. 6.3.2 and Table 6.3.2) to perform further tests.
Another functional test must be performed after testing.
