In fact, FNBO has completely eliminated
manual envelope stuffing. This single
improvement saves nearly 1,500 person-hours
per year.

Transforming customer marketing

The Datacard solution is creating important new
marketing opportunities for FNBO with the
ability to customize card carriers on an
individual basis. Recent examples are
numerous.

• Debit cards.

FNBO issues debit cards for

more than 30 small banks, each of which can
customize card carriers with its logo and the
bank president’s signature. In addition, each
bank can print its own member agreement
information on the carrier, and include a list of
ATM locations.

• Gift cards.

These cards are growing in

popularity not only for retailers, but for other
consumer marketers who use the cards as
fulfillment in targeted promotions and as
employee incentives. Each corporate sponsor
prints its own information on the carrier.

“The Datacard solution has really improved our
relationship with the marketing department,”
Gruenes said. “They have so much more
flexibility for marketing to our affinity partners.
Before, these types of ideas were not cost-
justifiable. Today, we can offer more
customization and more exciting ideas for
smaller issuers and still maintain our
profitability.”

The C3000 system also delivers important
advantages for FNBO credit card issuance.
Automatic sorting and processing has increased
job sizes and improved productivity, allowing
FNBO to process and mail its daily file one 
day earlier.

“Daily file customers are the ones who need a
replacement card quickly,” Gruenes said.
“Delivering a new credit card to them a full day
sooner makes a big difference in terms of
customer service.”

Today, the Datacard solution continues to create
new opportunities for improving productivity
and profitability for FNBO. Future plans, for
example, include nesting two 11" x 17" card
carriers in a single mailing.

“When that happens, we will be able to
consolidate disclosure information, our new
account package and other information in one
mailing,” Gruenes said. “That will eliminate the
cost of producing and delivering an entire
mailing. It’s a good example of the kind of
improvement that simply was not possible
before, but today we can actively pursue.”
