Preparing for Installation

NVRAM Battery Charging Instructions

Note

If a battery shows 0% charge, the displayed charge percentage is not updated until the
battery is charged to 75% or more.

Battery Recharging Procedure

To recharge the NVRAM card batteries:

1. Reboot the system by using the command

system reboot

Press the F2 key (Del key on DD4xx and DD560 systems) when the diagnostic message
“

Press <F2> to enter setup

” or “

Press <Del> to enter setup

” appears, or

when an Intel or Data Domain logo splash screen appears.

Leave the system at the prompt for a minimum of three hours.

After at least three hours, reboot the system by pressing the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys
simultaneously.

Check the battery status by entering the

system show nvram

command. If any battery is

still not charged, the NVRAM card is defective and must be replaced.

Reboot the system by simultaneously pressing the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys.
