In order to provide proper cooling, most drives are mounted vertically, unless
otherwise stated in the VLT Instruction Manual. In is important to check the wall
strength and mounting hardware to insure it can handle the weight of the drive.
Mechanical dimensions of the VLT and of the mounting holes are provided in the
Instruction Manual.
Some drives have Cold Plate technology, such as the 2800, which can be mounted in
any position, vertical, horizontal, etc, but it must be mounted flush to a surface that
can absorb heat.
If heat-sink fins are present on the back of the drive, it must be mounted to a back
plate which causes a chimney effect and proper cooling. Drives that include a
bypass or other option enclosure are generally factory-mounted to a back plate.
