SPREAD PATTERN DETAILS
An opera onal characteris c of this type of machine is the possibility of overloading the distributors at high
rates of applica on. Such an overload results in an altera on of the spread pa ern to a narrower swath with
heavier applica on at the center. This can be avoided by reducing speed when using high applica on rates.
Cau on: Be extra careful to check your spread pa ern when using high applica on rates. Adjust your driving
pa ern to the actual delivered spread swath, the adjustment of the machine, and the material being used. When
applica on rates are in excess of 700 pounds per acre, the ground speed should be propor onately reduced, We
recommend that for very high applica on rates, to insure uniformity of applica on, that two lighter applica on
passes be made preferably placing your second pass over the lap lines of the
fi
rst pass. This also is recommended
prac ce when spreading under very windy condi ons or with a material that segregates easily. If your e
ff
ec ve
spread pa ern is more, the Metering Gate se ng should be increased propor onately, according to the percent-
age of your spread width. The gate se ng should likewise be decreased if your e
ff
ec ve spread pa ern is less.
Your spread pa ern can be checked accurately and visually on a freshly worked, level area of ground. Such an
area is also ideally suited to adjus ng and
fi
ne tuning your machine. The following diagram graphically illustrates a
typical spread pa ern.
Note on the illustra on below that the lap point occurs at the point where the applica on rate is one-half
of the spread chart rate. The pro
fi
le of the spread pa ern tapers at both edges and has a wide uniform area in
the center. By careful a en on to the lap point during applica on, a very uniform and even spread rate can be
a ained. The Mobility Spreaders have been designed to provide this good and uniform tapered pro
fi
le to make
spread width less cri cal. However, excessive or insu
ffi
cient overlap of passes will result in a poor applica on pat-
tern in the lap area of the total spread pa ern. If you can a ain this spread pa ern and pay careful a en on to
the lap points, the do ed line on the illustra on will represent your actual overall spread pa ern.
