HDD Replacement
The interchangeable drawer units are mounted on the frontside of the device. This ensures
maximum service friendliness for replacing a hard disk drive.
Despite this high level of service friendliness, the conditions listed below must be observed
to maintain device and data security!
NOTE
Please observe the conditions set out below to the letter when you wish to
change a hard disk drive in the recorder. Failure to do so will result in the
warranty being voided.

Conditions
Service Case
Service case means the replacement of a defective or failed HDD. Please note that a drive
may only be replaced by trained personnel who have been authorized to do so by Dallmei-
er electronic. Contact the Dallmeier Support Team if necessary.
Also note that the interchangeable drawer units of the device are
not designed for cy-
clical replacement
(external long term archiving) of the hard disk drives. In addition the
interchangeable drawer units are designed for a
maximum of 200 connection cycles
.
Switch off Device
The interchangeable drawer units on the device are
not hot-pluggable or hot-swappab-
le
. The device must therefore be switched off before an HDD drawer unit can be changed.
Tested and Approved Hard Disk Drives
Use only hard disk drives that have been tested and approved by Dallmeier to replace a
defective or failed HDD.
HDDs that have not been tested and approved may cause malfunctions and may even
cause damage to the device, for example:
•
Recording loss caused by incompatibility
•
Power pack defect caused by excessive power consumption
•
Overheating of the recorder caused by excessive heat generation
The current list of hard disk drives that have been tested and approved by Dallmeier elec-
tronic is shown in the partner forum.
Capacity of the new HDD
For technical reasons it is necessary that the capacity of a new hard disk drive to be larger
than (or precisely the same as) that of the old one. The decisive point is not the normally
specified gross capacity (GB) but the
number of sectors
.
