DAKO 5140
The following indicator lights are installed on the
instrument:
AL:
Temperature alarm indicator light. This lamp turns
on when, because of a fault, the temperature to
be stabilised is exceeded by approx. 50°C. In
this case, heating is limited by the alarm itself.
OUT1: Temperature control indicator light. It turns on
when the machine is switched on. It blinks during
the melting process in case the temperature to
be stabilised is reached.
°C:
This lamp lit means that the temperature readings on
the display are expressed in centigrade degrees.
°F:
This lamp lit means that the temperature readings on
the display are expressed in Fahrenheit degrees.
Balancing of the centrifugation arm
•
Lay a support (5, fig. 2) suitable to the flask to be
used, on the centrifugation arm in order to get the
support is firmly held between its locking pins (4, fig.
2), then put the flask therein (8, fig. 2).
•
Put the crucible with the metal into its seat (6, fig. 2).
•
Loosen the handwheel (3, fig. 2) of the arm.
•
Move the counterweight till the arm is balanced. The
counterweight runs freely when it is pushed towards
the central shaft. To move it in the opposite direction
press the lever placed in its lower part.
•
Tighten the handwheel.
Note: the arm where the mobile counterweight slides
is marked with numbered positions to allow the
balancing of all of flasks, by simply taking note of
the counterweight location before the flask is entered
to the heating furnace. On casting, the counterweight
shall be moved to the position marked for the
concerned flask.
Switching on
•
Set the main switch (1, fig. 5) to I.
•
The green light of the main switch turns on; all the
led indicators of the keyboard light up for a few
seconds; afterwards, the first six red Leds (A, fig. 4)
and the STOP indicator light (H, fig. 4) keep lit and,
provided the arm has already reached its position,
also the indicator led corresponding to the Coil Raise
push-button starts blinking (D, fig. 4).
Switching off
•
To switch off the machine, press the main switch (1,
fig. 7) to set it off. All the red Leds installed on the
control panel and the green light of the main switch
turn off.
If the heater coil is up and a hot crucible is dipped in the
heating coil, first press the Stop push-button (8, fig. 4),
and then switch off the machine.
Entering of the temperature value
To select the wanted temperature value, press either
key 13 or 14 (see Fig. 5) according to whether you want
to decrease or increase the temperature setting. To start
a change in the temperature value, hold in the selected
key for approx. two seconds. The temperature reading
changes more quickly if the key is held in.
Note that the temperature entries must always be higher
by some tenths of degrees than the maximum alloy
casting range to get the metal is still fully melt when it
reaches the flask inside.
Movements of the coil raise control lever
•
From the bottom to the top (casting): rotate the arm
and move it to the required position (the crucible must
be over the heater coil) until the light of the coil raise
push-button starts blinking (4, fig. 4), then depress
the above mentioned push-button.
•
From the top to the bottom: press the Stop push-
button (8, fig. 4).
Melting start
To start the casting process, put the crucible on its
support, then raise the coil and close the lid.
•
To cast in the Manual mode, press the Casting key
(3, fig. 4). Its Led indicator turns on.
•
To cast in the Automatic mode, press the Auto key
(5, fig. 4): the pilot light of the Casting Start key blinks.
Afterwards, set the casting stabilisation time by
means of the Increment or Decrement keys (9 and
10 on fig. 4) making reference to the scale C shown
on fig. 4. Press the melting Start key (3, fig. 4): the
pilot light of the Centrifugation key starts blinking.
As above described, enter also the centrifugation
time by making reference to the scale B shown on
fig. 4. Finally, press the Centrifugation (6, fig. 4) and
the Casting Start (3, fig. 4) keys.
At any time the operator may return to the Manual
mode by pressing the Auto key (5, fig. 4).
The casting power rating may be changed, even if the
casting process is already in progress, by means of the
Increment or Decrement keys (9 and 10 on fig. 4).
The casting operation may start only on condition the
heater coil is raised and the lid is closed. If the lid is
opened during the casting operation, the process is
automatically halted, then restarted when the lid is
closed.
When the lid is opened the function AUTO is excluded
and when the lid will be closed again the process will
go on in manual mode
Never start the casting operation before the crucible is
put on place. In case of use of a ceramic crucible, at
least 15-g alloy must be therein.
Casting Stop
The casting process may be stopped in either way:
•
press the Casting-Centrifugation Stop push-button
