Installing the smoke detector
Where not to place the smoke
detector
Do not install
the smoke detector:
• directly on a metal surface,
• near fluorescent tubes,
• in very dusty rooms,
• in rooms where the temperature
could drop below 0°C or rise above
+50°C, as this will prevent the detec-
tor from working properly,
• less than 1 m away from heating,
cooling or ventilation grilles likely to
spread the smoke,
• less than 6 m away from a fireplace
or wood-burning stove where com-
bustion fumes could cause untimely
alarms,
• in places where cooking fumes and
steam could result in untimely trigge-
ring,
• in premises where there is a risk of
condensation or humidity (bathrooms,
laundries, etc.)
• at the top of pointed (A-shaped) cei-
lings as an air pocket at this point
could prevent smoke reaching the
detector.

Smoke detector tests
We recommend you warn your
neighbours before testing the detec-
tor. You should also take all the
necessary precautions to avoid hea-
ring disorders that may be caused by
the sounder.
Manual test:
Press the test button (for approx. 5 sec.).
The red LED indicator lamp flashes and
the detector alarm sounds several times
until the test button is released.
Detection test:
Spray the detection chamber with a
test smoke spray and check that the
detector sounder continues to sound
until the smoke has been fully disper-
sed.
For both tests, check triggering:
• of the control panel sirens in fire
sounding mode (5 min.),
• of the telephone dialler.
Stop the sirens and check that the
control panel has memorised the
alarm.
Carry out these tests at least once a
month.
Fixing method
• Place the base in the chosen loca-
tion and mark the position of the 2
fixing holes with a pencil.
• Use 2 fixing screws and plugs.
• Make sure it is properly fixed.
• Check battery connection.
• Screw the detector on its base until
it locks into position.
Testing the radio link at the chosen location
• Change the control panel to installa-
tion mode (see § on Programming) and
carry out the following sequence:
• Put the control panel back in
user
