Field of application
The positioning belt with lanyard type Baseline 2229 is
used ONLY FOR POSITIONING during work, to maintain a
comfortable working position and prevent falls from
height. Before starting work, make sure that this product
is compatible with your other equipment. It is
recommended to use ropes, lanyards, hooks, carabiners,
belts and harnesses from the Cresto range, this assures
the compatibility between the different equipments.
The equipment should not be submitted to a fall and the
shock of the fall. This is not a fall arrest device!
General Information and description
The positioning belt with lanyard, Baseline 2229 is a
combination between a positioning belt and a positioning
lanyard. Standard size is L-‐XL The breaking load of this
system is minimum 15 KN. The lanyard is equipped with a
slide buckle (1) as rope adjuster, made by high resistance
aluminum, this device allows a good and safe adjustment
of the needed lanyard length. One end is connected
directly to the belt, on the other end there is a hook type
122
Before each use:
Carefully make a visual inspection of the material and
function and ensure that the equipment works properly.
Pay attention to the possibility of mantle breakage,
swollen mantle, damaged seams, cuts, discoloration,
damaged or corroded hooks/connectors, any other
abnormal change.
When using the positioning lanyard, please make sure
that the structure you want to use as anchorage, is
strong enough and respects at least the requirements of
EN795. For your personal safety, we recommend to use
an anchorage point/structure, which can hold a load of
minimum 1500Kg.
The belt can be simply dressed and settled around the
waist. The length adjustment is done by releasing or
tightening the webbing through the mobile part of the
front buckle. After dressing the belt, please tighten the
webbing till you feel comfortable. The belt should not be
to loose and not to tightened.
The positioning lanyard shall be used as follows:
-‐adjust the proper length of the rope by pushing or
pulling the rope trough the slider buckle, the lanyard
shall enclose the anchorage structure, the connector
from the end of the lanyard will be hooked into the
second (free) D-‐Ring and closed (on the opposite side of
the belt). Please make sure that the gate is closed and
secured. The positioning lanyard should be installed
always above the height of the user’s hips and it should
be always in a tight, spanned position. Always adjust the
length of the rope properly, so that in case of a fall, the
distance should not exceed 50cm. Avoid sideways
movements that cause swinging where you can be
thrown against an object or a wall!
Warning!
Please make sure that the hook/connector is correctly
hooked in and the gate is closed, before using.
Please use a protective hose for the rope, to prevent
damages on the rope. Before using, please inspect the
also the –by the protective hose-‐ covered parts of the
rope!
Please avoid the rope contact with sharp edges, grease
and oil, corrosive chemicals, heat, molten metal.
Rescue and evacuation!
Work at heights requires the user to be in good health,
medically fit, to be trained in the use of the equipment
and to be aware of the risks. Planning for the evacuation
of a person that has fallen and that may remain hanging
in the harness must be done before starting work at
heights. Each workplace must have a rescue plan, the
rescue team must be available in shortest time.
Warning!
1. This device must not be modified or converted using
accessories other than those supplied by the
manufacturer.
2. This device is designed only for Personal Protection, all
other usage is forbidden. Each user should have his own
personal positioning lanyard.
3. When connecting the system in accordance with EN-‐
363:2008, the user shall be fully conversant with the
function and use of other components. In the event of
uncertainty contact your dealer or the manufacturer.
The equipment has to be
removed from service when:
1. The equipment has missing markings
2. The device is worn down, it has corrosive damage,
broken threads, corroded metal parts, bad functioning,
has mantle breakage, swollen mantle, damaged seams,
cuts, discoloration, any other abnormal change.
3. A fall or heavy load has occurred when using the
equipment.
4. There is any doubt about it’s integrity, the full usage
history is uncertain

The maximum service life of this product shall not
exceed 4-‐6 years from the date of first use. The storage
time (in proper conditions) before the first use should
not exceed 2 years. Storage period in proper conditions
will not affect the total usage time of the device. Intense
use, heavy working conditions & environment, incorrect
handling and wear, poor maintenance, can reduce the
length of useful life. An exceptional event can reduce
the lifetime of the product to a single use, for example if
it is exposed to a major fall or huge load, exposed to high
temperatures, exposed to chemicals, exposed to sharp
edges, rubbed on abrasive surfaces, etc.
The lifetime of the product ends when it meets one of
the above mentioned removing criteria or when the
equipment’s use is judged obsolete.
Transport, maintenance and cleaning
The new equipment should be stored in it’s original
packaging. Once used equipment should be stored in
proper bags or boxes. Proper bags and boxes are also

edges, vibrations and UV-‐light. The equipment shall be
kept clean for the best function and durability. Metal
parts can be blown clean with compressed air. Avoid
lubricating oil! Slightly soiled equipment can be washed
in lukewarm water with a soft brush. A mild soap
solution can be used. Heavily soiled equipment can be
machine washed in a wash bag with a pH-‐neutral and
phosphate-‐free washing detergent using a 30° wash
program. Wet equipment should be hung up to dry. The
equipment shall dry by itself without being exposed to
open flames or other heat sources. Appropriate bags
and/or transport boxes are to be used when storing and
transporting the equipment.
Inspection
The user himself must inspect his equipment carefully
before, during and after each use!
For the user’s safety the product must be inspected by a
specialist at least once every twelve months to ensure its
function and durability. Inspections are to be made more
often with frequent usage of the equipment or use in
heavy and aggressive environments.

has an inspection certificate and it has to be made in
accordance
wit
the
manufacturer’s
inspection
procedures. We recommend inspections to be made in

model designation, unique serial number, month and
year of manufacture, size, EN standard and the
Certification Institutes code-‐number. The product label
must be legible!
Logbook
Each component of a system for protection against falling
shall be entered in a logbook. The logbook is to be filled
in at least every twelve months by a “duly qualified
person”. (See equipment log on the last page). The user is
responsible for noting in the logbook the date of the
equipments first use. The logbook has to be kept close to
the equipment and sent in for examination together with
the equipment.
