CONTROL FUNCTIONS:
1.
BALANCED MICROPHONE INPUT
XLR, low impedance (2.2 k Ohm), balanced microphone input. Pin 2 is the positive and
pin 3 – the negative phase.
2. PAD
SWITCH
This pad switch attenuates the signal (reduces the sensitivity) on the microphone input with
20 dB. Accommodates high-level microphone signals.
3. POLARITY SWITCH
Reverses the phase (polarity) of the microphone input signal. This will compensate for an out-
of-phase input that would possibly cause signal cancellations in the final mix.
4. PHANTOM
POWER
This switch applies the +48 V DC phantom power to the microphone input to power
condenser microphones. Warning: If phantom power is used do not connect unbalanced
dynamic microphones or other devices that cannot handle this voltage. Some wireless mic
receivers may be damaged. Consult their manuals. An unbalanced-to-balanced impedance
converter interface adapter can also be used to isolate the microphone input from the +48 V
phantom power supply.
5.
PHANTOM POWER LED
Illuminates (green) when the phantom switch is engaged to indicate that +48 V DC is applied
to the microphone input XLR connector.
6.
LOW CUT FILTER (LCF)
A high pass filter with a corner frequency of 75 Hz and 24 dB/oct slop. It’s used to filter out
rumble, wind, and microphone handling noise.
7. LINE
INPUT
This is a 1/4" (TRS) balanced line-level, high-impedance (200 k Ohm) input for high and
instrument level signals. The tip is the positive phase and the ring – the negative. An
unbalanced (instrument), 1/4" (TS) connection can also be made at this input.
8. MICROPHONE
GAIN
This Gain control varies the gain of the microphone input to allow wider input dynamic range.
The gain adjustment range is 0 dB to +60 dB or –20 dB to +40 dB when the –20 dB pad
switch is depressed.
