INTRODUCTION
Copilot has designed this child seat for your child’s comfort,
but it is up to the parents to see that it is properly installed
and used correctly. Read this manual before you begin
installing your child seat. If you have any questions, contact

This manual contains many WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, Notes
and Hints. Be sure to read and understand the manual
thoroughly BEFORE taking your child for a ride. If you have

Failure to install and use this seat correctly may lead to
serious personal injury or death to you or your passenger.
•
Do not operate a bicycle with a child seat attached
without first reading and understanding this manual.
•
For bicycle use only. Do not use on a motorcycle or moped.
•
Do not use as a car seat.
•
Maximum capacity of seat is 40 pounds including child,
pack and contents.
•
Cyclist and child must wear helmets.
•
Child must be old enough to sit upright without assistance.
Consult your pediatrician before carrying any child.
•
Additional weight of rack, seat and child will change
handling characteristics of bicycle.
•
Cyclist must be an experienced, strong rider weighing 100
pounds or more.
•
Bicycle must be capable of supporting combined weight
of rack, seat, child, pack and contents. Consult bicycle
specifications or local dealer to verify compatibility.
• Do not use on any bicycle with rear suspension or with a
suspension seatpost.

1 – Blackburn EXPEDITION 1 or EXPEDITION 1 Disc Rack with
Hardware
RACK AND CHILD SEAT INSTALLATION
Your child seat is shipped 100% assembled. You only need to
install the Blackburn EXPEDITION 1 or EXPEDITION 1 Disc rack
on your bicycle and attach the child seat to it according to
the instructions below. Initial installation takes about 30
minutes. After that, the seat can be installed or removed in
less than 30 seconds. You will need an 8 mm or 5/16" open
end or box wrench to install the rack.
CAUTION:
This child seat must be used with the Blackburn
EXPEDITION 1 or EXPEDITION 1 Disc child seat rack only. Disc
Rack can only be used with Limo.
NOTE:
T
his child seat requires a bicycle with a double
stay-mount system or an oversized mono-stay with factory
installed braze-on fittings. If a mono-stay adapter is required,
use only the Blackburn MA-1 Mono-Stay Adapter. If you’re not
sure which type of stay your bike has, contact your local
Copilot dealer or call us directly at 1-800-456-2355.
