c) Sensor post attachment
Finding a suitable place for the outdoor sensors is often tricky, because the temper-
ature/air humidity sensor should be placed in the shade to measure the temperature
values correctly. On the other hand, you also have to pay attention to the function of
the wind and rain sensor. Wind must be able to access the sensor from all sides so it
can measure the wind speed correctly. The rain sensor may not be covered by trees,
shrubs, building parts, etc. Otherwise the rain quantity is not detected correctly.
☞
The direct proximity to buildings and trees etc. may falsify the measur-
ing values of the wind and rain sensor.
The transmission range of the temperature/air humidity sensor is max. 150m in free
field. However, this is the range under optimum conditions. The range may also be
strongly reduced depending on the ambient conditions. If there are reinforced concrete
walls, ceilings, wet walls etc. in the radio transmission range between the tempera-
ture/air humidity sensor and the base station, this has an adverse effect on the range.
Therefore you should once again test the radio transmission between the outdoor sen-
sors and the base station before attaching the system permanently. Wait a few minutes
for this purpose because radio transmission does not take place continuously but at
certain intervals.
☞
Also see the chapter "Ranges and Reception Interference".
Attach the sensor post with the outdoor sensors in a suitable spot. You can also use
another post as base post. The sensor post can be joined with this with the corre-
sponding band clamp (not part of the delivery). Put the sensor post into an upright
position. The rain sensor must be as horizontal as possible; otherwise it cannot work
correctly due to the design of the measuring mechanics. Excess rain and wind sen-
sor cable can be secured with cable straps on the post.
Observe the regulations concerning max. admissible height, lighting
protection, etc. Ensure that the posts have a tight fit. Do not install
the sensor post in the proximity of power lines.
When selecting the installation site and mounting, observe the nec-
essary safety measures for persons, animals, vehicles, etc.
☞
Please also note that the temperature/air humidity sensor must be
accessible for later battery changes. The rain sensor must also be
accessible for cleaning work.
