Safety Instructions
Read the complete operating manual carefully before using the product, as it
contains important information about the correct installation and operation.
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequen-
tial damage!
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The warranty
will be void in such cases!
Caution!
The product may only be installed by a quali
fi
ed technician (e.g. electrician)
who is familiar with the relevant regulations (e.g. VDE, German electrical wi-
ring regulations)!
Improper work carried out at the mains voltage endangers not only your life
but also the life of others!
If you do not have the expertise required for the installation, do not install it
yourself but entrust a quali
fi
ed electrician.
• For safety and licensing (CE) reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modi
fi
ca-
tions to the product are not permitted.
•
The product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children! There is a
risk of a lethal electric shock!
• The device is designed according to protection class II.
•
The product may only be operated on the mains voltage (see section ”Technical
Data“). Never try to operate the product at another voltage as this will cause its
destruction.
• Do not use the garden light in rooms or under adverse ambient conditions where
combustible gases, vapours or dust are or may be present! Otherwise, there is a
risk of explosion!
• The product is suitable for use outdoors (IP44), but it must never be operated
under water!
• Attention, LED light:
Do not look directly into the LED light!
Do not look into the beam directly or with optical instruments!
• The product must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or
heavy mechanical stress.
• If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, disconnect
the product immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation. After this, let
an expert check the product.
It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
- the product shows visible signs of damage,
- the product does not work at all or works poorly (
fl
ickering light, leaking smoke
or a smell of burning, the light
fl
ickers, audible cracking noises, discolouration to
the product or the adjacent surfaces.)
- the product was stored under unfavourable conditions
- it was exposed to heavy loads during transport
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around since it could become a
dangerous plaything for children.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the employer’s
liability insurance association for electrical systems and operating facilities are to
be observed!
• If you have any questions that are not answered in this manual, please contact our
technical service or another specialist.
Preparations for Installation
Also observe the chapter ”Safety Instructions“!
Please note:
• The wall mounted light may only be mounted on a vertical wall.
• Please pay attention to the mounting position. At the back of the light is an arrow (e.g. with
the text ”This side up“), this should point vertically upwards. This is the exact position for
mounting the light to the wall.
If this mounting position is not observed, water might penetrate the light, danger of
a fatal electric shock!
• Only install the wall mounted light on a stable surface, e.g. masonry. Depending on the
surface, suitable screws and plugs are to be used.
• The wall mounted light must be installed and used out of the reach of children.
• The wall mounted light must be protected on the subdistribution board by a 10/16A fuse.
• The wall mounted light must be disconnected from the power supply during installation.
It is
not suf
fi
cient to just turn off at the light switch!
Disconnect all pins from the mains by removing the corresponding circuit fuse or switching
off the automatic circuit breaker. Protect from being switched on again by an unauthorised
person using e.g. a danger sign. Switch off the corresponding ground fault circuit interrupter
as well.
• Check that the mains connection is free of current e.g. with an appropriate tester. .
Mounting
Pay attention to the information in the chapter ”Mounting preparations“!
• First unscrew the three Allen screws on the front.
• Remove the stainless steel cover and then the glass cover.
• Remove both of the small crosshead screws, keeping the LED card in the housing.
• Remove the card with the LEDs carefully from the housing.
• Guide the power cable through the rubber gasket.
While piercing the rubber gasket ensure the hole for the cable is not too large.
Otherwise water might penetrate the housing, causing a short-circuit (destroying the
light). Fill a hole that was cut too big with e.g. a bit of silicone.
• Fasten the housing to the wall using suitable screws and plugs.
Pay attention to the correct positioning when mounting (see above, pay attention to
the arrow marking on the back of the housing, see chapter ”Preparations for moun-
ting“).
Warning!
Make sure that existing cables or connections are not damaged when drilling the
mounting holes or when screwing tight.
• Connect the mains lead using the terminal block (brown cable = L, blue cable = N).
☞
If your mains lead has a protective earth conductor (yellow/green), secure it with an
additional block (not included in the delivery or wired in the light), so no short-circuit
arises.
Make sure the cable is not stripped back too far; this may also cause a short-circuit
or such.
Check if the light’s cable fasteners are tight enough, if not screw them down.
• Place the card with the LEDs in correct orientation (should point downwards) and screw them
down with the two little screws.
The mains lead must not to be squeezed or damaged!
• Finally the glass cover and the stainless steel cover are to be mounted, screw down the three
Allen screws (do not use force!). Be careful during mounting that the glass cover does not fall
off.
• The stainless steel cover is to be positioned so that the opening points downwards, like the
LEDs inside the housing.
