IP Setup
DHCP is the default IP Mode
where the Tx or Rx unit address is assigned automatically. If your
network administrator connects a DHCP Server to the network, then the DHCP Server will assign the
IP addresses to each Tx or Rx units.
If a
DHCP
Server is not connected to the network (which is likely), then the Tx and Rx units will
automatically and dynamically self-assign Link Local IP addresses
. These addresses will be in a
special
169.254.xxx.yyy
address range.
Link Local
addresses are very convenient, require no configuration, and are a good
choice for small networks separate from the corporate network, but they have some limitations. They
cannot be routed with an outside network, and they can be changed when the device is rebooted or
when the firmware is updated.
You can see these automatically assigned addresses (DHCP or Link-Local) on the monitor or TV con-
nected to the Rx unit.
