Hot-Plug SCSI Hard Drive
CAUTION:
If you are replacing a drive that is part of an array, observe the “Hot-Plug SCSI Hard
Drive Replacement Guidelines” from the
Compaq Servers Troubleshooting Guide
.
To remove a hot-plug SCSI hard drive:
1.
Press the release button to unlock the lever on the hard drive
.
2.
Pull the ejector lever to release the SCSI hard drive from the cage
.
3.
Pull the drive to remove it from the cage
.

CAUTION:
Always populate hard drive bays with either a hard drive or blank. Operating the
server without a hard drive or blank results in improper airflow and improper cooling that can
lead to thermal damage.
IMPORTANT:
Always populate hard drive bays starting with the lowest SCSI ID.
To replace the hard drive:
1.
Slide the drive into the cage until it clicks, locking the drive into place.
2.
Close the lever.
