ELLIPSE CUTTING
ELLIPSE CUTTING
Ellipses can be cut with a construction design in which the difference between the ellipse’s major
and minor semi-axes is equal to or greater than 205mm.
PROCEDURE FOR CUTTING ELLIPSES
Establishing ellipse size
Indicate the 90° axes of the ellipse to be cut on the work piece and set the dimensions of the ellipse
(Fig. 2)
.
(Fig. 4)
Fix the cross frame
(1)
to the work piece using the wood screws
(13)
or with double-sided
adhesive tape so that the slots of the cross frame
(1)
coincide perfectly with the previously found
axes
(Fig. 3)
.
Establishing the major semi-axis
(Fig. 6)
Insert the complete slider
(A)
into the centre of the slot of the cross frame and fit the
complete slider
(B)
along the major semi-axis.
Now loosen the bolt
(7)
of slider
(A)
and (B), set the required semi-axis length by moving the
extension
(4)
and
(5)
towards the centre of the slider pin
(A)
and tighten the bolt
(7)
to fix it [the
bolt
(7)
of the slider
(B)
has not yet been tightened and the rod passes freely through the slider).
