Bed Latch
18 1999 Carryall Gasoline Vehicle Owner’s Manual
For Carryall II Plus and Carryall VI:
9. Make sure the Forward/Reverse handle is in the NEUTRAL position.
10. Depress and hold the brake pedal.
11. Turn the key all the way to the START position and release after the engine is started. The engine will idle.
12. While keeping the brake engaged, select direction of travel by placing shift handle in desired posi-
tion (F = forward or R = reverse).
13. Release the brake pedal completely, and then slowly depress the accelerator pedal. As the accelerator
is depressed, speed will increase until full speed is reached.
STOPPING THE VEHICLE
To stop the vehicle, release the accelerator pedal and depress the brake pedal until the vehicle comes to a
complete stop.
PARKING AND LEAVING THE VEHICLE
1. After stopping the vehicle, firmly depress park brake pedal until it locks. This will prevent vehicle from rolling.
2. Turn the key switch to OFF and place the Forward/Reverse handle in the NEUTRAL position. Remove the
key and turn fuel shut-off valve to closed (OFF) position when the vehicle is not in use
(Figure 18, Page 22)

BED LATCH
The Carryall I, Carryall II, Carryall Turf II, and Carryall II Plus are equipped with a bed latch on the driver side
of the vehicle as standard equipment
(Figure 14, Page 19)
. To lift the bed, pull the latch handle toward the
rear of the vehicle and lift the bed
(Figure 15, Page 19)
.
To close the bed, lower it gently until the bed latch engages. DO NOT drop the bed.

IF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS DEPRESSED WHILE THE FORWARD/REVERSE HANDLE IS
IN
NEUTRAL
, OR IF YOU TRY TO SHIFT FROM
FORWARD
TO
REVERSE
WHILE THE
ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF. TO KEEP THE ENGINE
RUNNING, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MUST BE RELEASED COMPLETELY BEFORE
SHIFTING THE VEHICLE TO
NEUTRAL
OR FROM
FORWARD
TO
REVERSE
.
•
DRIVING THROUGH WATER MAY AFFECT THE BRAKES. AFTER DRIVING THROUGH WATER,
CHECK EFFECTIVENESS OF THE BRAKES BY GENTLY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. IF
THE VEHICLE DOES NOT SLOW DOWN AT THE NORMAL RATE, CONTINUE TO DEPRESS THE
BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL THE BRAKES DRY OUT AND NORMAL PERFORMANCE RETURNS.

WHEN STOPPED ON A HILL, USE THE BRAKE PEDAL TO HOLD YOUR POSITION. DO NOT
USE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL.

KEEP HANDS CLEAR OF PINCH POINTS BETWEEN BED AND SEAT BACK SUPPORT.
•
THE CARRYALL II, CARRYALL TURF II AND CARRYALL II PLUS ARE EQUIPPED WITH AN
AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGING PROP ROD, UNLESS EQUIPPED WITH THE HYDRAULIC OR
ELECTRIC BED LIFT OPTION
