Use the 

Configuration: SIP Configuration

 screen (Figure 2.11) to configure the 

SIP (Session Initiation Protocol)

 

settings for your MAX IP phone. SIP is a text-based protocol that is based on HTTP and MIME, which makes it suitable 
and very flexible for integrated voice-data applications. SIP relies on the 

Session Description Protocol (SDP)

 for ses-

sion description and the 

Real-Time Protocol (RTP)

 for actual transport.
